"Austin and Ally: Beauties and Bullies" - Classroom Discussion

Overview: Austin and Ally is a Disney Channel sitcom (available for streaming via Disney+) that follows the antics of four high school students. In this episode, the character Trish experiences cyberharassment after being cast as the lead in her school production of Sleeping Beauty. Her friends rally around her to help stand up against the bullying and her rebuild her self-esteem. The episode concludes with a PSA on cyberbullying presented by cast members Ross Lynch (Austin Moon), Laura Marano (Ally Dawson), Raini Rodriquez (Trish Del La Rosa), and Calum Worthy (Dez).

Age Recommendation: Elementary, Primary-Junior Grades (Ages: 7-10).

" Humane Tech " - Online Investigation

Overview: Have students visit https://www.humanetech.com/ and explore the "Youth Toolkit" (available under Resources), "Your Undivided Attention" (available under Podcasts + Film) and the Insights category at their own leisure. Have them take notes on things that piqued their interest, quantifiable facts/figures they have learned fascinate them, what they feel the overall morals of the company are, e.t.c. The point of this exercise is to familiarise students with an organization that is working for good through monitored and purposeful exposure.

Age Recommendation: High School/Middle School (Age 11+)
